A couple of weeks ago I wrote this post about creating an amazing Smithfield Bacon Bar during the festivities this year. I don’t know about you, but I am definitely going to give it a try. There are so many great recipes that include bacon, so the sky is the limit here! In addition to the bacon bar, I am sure that most of you will be eating ham this year too, right? I know that we will be, and our favorite ham is Smithfield Signature Spiral Sliced Hams.
I always used to think that making a ham was a lot of work, but it really isn’t! With these Smithfield Signature Spiral Sliced Ham all you have to do is stick it in the oven at 275 degrees for 10-12 minutes per pound and then brush on the glaze and you are done! It is such a great meal, and the fact that it is so easy to prepare makes it even better.
Another great thing about this ham is that it can feed you and your family even after the first night that you eat it. There are so many amazing recipes that you can make with leftover ham, and they are all delicious!
For example, you can make these tasty Ham, Brie, & Strawberry Sliders in about 20 minutes with the following ingredients:
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 6 Slices of Smithfield Anytime Favorites Quarter Boneless Hickory Smoked Sliced Ham
- 6 tbsp strawberry preserves
- 6 Slider Buns
- 6 thick slices of fresh Brie Cheese

My family and I love finishing off our leftover ham by incorporating it into many different recipes. Another one that we really want to try this year are these Ham and Cheese Empanadas. I grew up eating empanadas in Mexico, so these definitely bring back some fond memories for me of cooking in the kitchen with my abuelita and my mom. Empanadas are so fun to make and they are so delicious!
For this version, you will need the following ingredients:
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp, cold water
- 1 cup grated Colby Jack Cheddar cheese
- Vegetable oil, enough to deep fry empanadas (approx. 4 inches)
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 1 cup diced Smithfield Spiral Sliced Ham
- 1 egg whisked with 1 tbsp water
